Areyvut’s 2013 National Mitzvah Day This Weekend

On March 8-10th, communities around the United States will be coming together for a National Mitzvah Day, a time period designed as a united effort to highlight acts of kindness, charity and communal involvement. The program is being coordinated through the efforts of New Jersey based Areyvut.

The theme for this year’s program is Every Day, Every Way and Areyvut has developed educational resources and suggested activities to help schools, synagogues, families and communities to give of themselves and help others.

Projects range from food and blood drives to visits to hospitals and senior-care facilities which will allow participants primarily of elementary and high school age to be involved with an international campaign to publicize the power of kindness.

The organizers have been working with schools, synagogues and agencies to ensure that the local events cater to the participants’ interests, as well as respond to a real need faced by a community.

Areyvut is partnering with Good Deeds Day, an annual international celebration of good deeds initiated by businesswoman and philanthropist, Shari Arison, and launched and organized by Ruach Tova.
