Description of Organization:

AMIT enables Israel’s youth to realize their potential, and strengthens Israeli society by educating and nurturing children from diverse backgrounds within a framework of academic excellence, Jewish values and Zionist ideals. Founded in 1925, AMIT operates 106 schools, youth villages, surrogate family residences and other programs in 29 cities, constituting Israel’s only government-recognized network of religious Jewish education incorporating academic and technological studies.

Bnai Mitzvah Projects or Volunteer Opportunities offered by the organization for children ages 11 - 13:

AMIT’s unique program gives your Bar/Bat Mitzvah child the opportunity to sponsor Israeli children who are also celebrating his/her milestone. Funds donated through your child’s Mitzvah Project (which AMIT staff can assist in) ensures that every child in the AMIT network receives a proper Bar/Bat Mitzvah. If you and your family travel to Israel, then you can partake in a festive celebration or activity. AMIT’s Bar/Bat Mitzvah Program provides an opportunity for your child to learn and practice tzedakah, an integral part of Jewish family life. Helping children in Israel by taking on an AMIT Mitzvah Project will make your child’s Bar/Bat Mitzvah experience so much more meaningful.
