Yavneh Academy is launching a new program called Chesed Mornings for their 8th graders where the entire grade will be spending four sessions doing chesed and we are thrilled that Mitzvah Clowning is one of the options in this awesome and innovative program.

At this initial session participants will learn all about Mitzvah Clowning including what it is, what it isn’t, why we call it Mitzvah Clowning instead of calling it Caring or Medical Clowning, the differences between “regular” clowns and Mitzvah Clowns, exploring Jewish text about the import and impact of visiting the sick and caring for the elderly, what to discuss when visiting seniors, tips to keep in mind while clowning and the goals of the program.  This session will also include an improv workshop led by our colleagues at Black Box Performing Arts Center. The session will conclude by reviewing what we learn and role playing different scenarios.

Additional sessions will be held on November 26, January 14 and February 26.
