Since 2002, Areyvut has been touching the lives of Jewish youth and teens, as well as the many recipients of their actions.  Working closely with rabbis, day schools, religious schools, parents, community leaders and Jewish organizations – such as Friends of the Israel Defense Forces, Jewish Family Services, UJA Federation and hundreds more – our unique, meaningful and tailor-made programs inspire youth to get involved within their communities in ways they have never imagined, while also helping them to realize the immense power they have to make their communities and the world at large a better place.

Jewish youth come to us with their energy, enthusiasm and desire to give back, and leave our programs feeling truly enlightened and transformed.  Through meaningful, profound and powerful programming, participants learn that they can be a part of something bigger than themselves.

Whether it’s coming together to allocate much needed funds for local charities, making senior citizens smile through Mitzvah Clowning, putting donated clothing on the backs of those in need, or lending a hand by washing ambulances, our youth never fail to amaze us—and themselves—in the goodness they have to share with the world.  As Helen Keller once said, “Alone we can do so little.  Together we can do so much”.  One can see the impact this has, from the smiles on the kids’ faces, to the tears of joy in the eyes of their recipients.

The source for naming Areyvut comes from the Talmud Tractate Shavuot 39a where it states, “kol yisrael areiveim zeh b’zeh”, meaning all Jews are accountable and responsible for one another.  Areyvut means accountability or responsibility.  It is this sense of purpose that we seek to address.

From Bnai Mitzvah Chesed Fairs, to Mitzvah Clowning, Teen Philanthropy, National Mitzvah Day events and more, our goal is to partner with the community to give our Jewish youth every opportunity to become thoughtful, giving members of our community.  To date, we’ve engaged with and touched the lives of over 35,000 program participants, and we’ve only just begun.
