The Buddy Bench

The Buddy Bench is a bench anyone can designate at their school playground as a safe place for kids to sit when they’re not playing.  Kids off of the bench are encouraged to ask kids on the bench to play and kids on the bench are encouraged to talk to one another.  The buddy bench is a great way for children to feel safe when they’re not playing on the playground instead of feeling isolated and lonely.  It is also a great way to encourage socialization amongst different groups of children and allow for everyone to reach out of their comfort zone and talk to someone they wouldn’t necessarily think to.  More information about the buddy bench and how to start one at your local school can be found here!
