Program and Communications Assistant – Areyvut
Launched in 2002, Areyvut infuses the lives of Jewish youth with the core Jewish values of chesed (kindness), tzedakah (charity) and tikkun olam(social action).  Our target audience is middle and high school students from all denominations of Judaism, all types of Jewish education and all levels of Jewish communal affiliation.  Through programs and resources Areyvut offers a variety of opportunities to empower and to enrich youth by creating innovative programs that make these core Jewish values meaningful to them. 
Areyvut seeks a passionate, highly motivated, dynamic, “self-starter” to serve as a Program and Communications Assistant.  This full-time position will be based at the Areyvut office in Bergenfield, NJ (which is 15 miles and accessible by public transportation from Manhattan) and will serve under supervision of the Founder & Director.
Specific Responsibilities:
  • Manage the Areyvut website and monthly e-newsletter including writing, editing and organizing materials
  • Provide programmatic and administrative support for Areyvut programs including Mitzvah Clowning, National Mitzvah Day and Chesed Fairs
  • Manage all aspects of the A Kindness a Day Calendar including content,  distribution through Constant Contact and posting to social-media
  • Support implementation of educational programming for students and educators
  • Facilitate networking and information-exchange among colleagues and program partners through social-media, including Facebook, Twitter and blog
  • Play an active role in recruiting for and implementing Summer Internship Program
  • Answer general program related questions received by phone/e-mail
  • Provide administrative support to the Areyvut team
Key Competencies and Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree
  • One-two years’ work experience, preferably in a non-profit environment
  • Relevant experience implementing creative Jewish and/or educational programming (experience in service learning, teen philanthropy, summer camp and/or experiential education preferred)
  • Excellent computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Office, and familiarity with social media and website management
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, including strong writing and editing skills
  • Solid organizational skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize, manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines
  • Capacity to work both independently and as part of an entrepreneurial team
  • Willingness to travel and work occasional evenings/weekends
  • Commitment to professional growth and learning
  • Passion for Areyvut’s vision and mission

Development and Communications Assistant – Areyvut

  • Manage direct mail, program updates to donors and grant applications
  • Implement at least two new annual fundraising events
  • Engage donors, perspective donors and Board members in programs  
  • Provide support for Areyvut events including Annual Breakfast, Kayitz Classic and New Year’s Day Family Event
  • Assist the Board and staff in planning and implementing events, meeting with current and perspective donors
  • Facilitate networking and information-exchange among supporters, participants and colleagues through social-media, including Facebook, Twitter and blog
  • Provide administrative support to the Areyvut team
Key Competencies and Qualifications:
