Health Insurance for Small Businesses & Non-Profits

Posted on February 6, 2013

We renew our health coverage on March 1.  Every year when I get the renewal I begin to research into other options.  For us, the costs increases have ranged from 9% to 35%.  So at this time every year, I talk with our broker about tweaking our coverage and reach out to colleagues to see if they have any suggestions.  This year I am crowdsourcing.  I want to know:

  1. How does your small business or non-profit handle health coverage.  Is it offered?  Do employees pay in?  If so, how much?  Are you pleased with your coverage?  Do you change your plan because of the fee increases?
  2. Are you aware of any approaches to actively address the situation?  Do you participate in a cooperative or joint purchasing plan?  Has that been effective?  Are you interested in working together to find ways to maintain your current coverage without large increases?

I am looking to use Areyvut’s resources effectively and responsibly and want to maintain coverage to cover our employees and their families.

Please share your thoughts either in the comment section below or via e-mail (daniel@areyvut.org).  Thanks in advance and have a great day.
