Penny Harvest

Posted on May 30, 2012

The Common Cents Penny Harvest is an organization started by a child who wished to feed the homeless in 1991.  Since then, Penny Harvest has grown, and children continue to collect pennies and turn those pennies into grants for organizations in the community.  At SAR Academy in Riverdale, a second grade class raised $2,000 dollars in pennies and is interested in volunteering and creating crafts for agency affiliates.  More can be seen about this in an article I’ve written and from the Penny Harvest website itself.  Areyvut applauds the work of Mrs. Lynn Zadoff, the second grade teacher and coach who helped the students raise the $2,000 dollars for tzedakah.  Kol hakavod!
