In an article in the LA Times titled, “Major League Baseball Teams Step Up to Give Back,” Kevin Baxter highlights the amazing philanthropy that the Arizona Diamondbacks, New York Yankees, and Detroit Tigers do and make a priority of doing year after year. Using their status as baseball players for good, the neighborhoods being helped appreciate the recognition from these stars and are happy to see them when they come to volunteer. From volunteering with a child who has cerebral palsy to granting scholarships for season tickets to games, these major league teams are major in more ways than one. The work these teams do is great and I hope that they can serve as an inspiration for fans and other sports teams for years to come.
