You are all familiar with The Giving Pledge, an effort to encourage rich individuals to give the majority of their money to charity and have seen my blog posts about it here and here. I read in the Chronicle about Philanthropy’s Promise, a similar effort focused on grant makers to maximize their impact. I applaud the initiators and those that have signed on so far and encourage more Jewish foundations to join and support this important effort. I believe this can and will positively contribute to transparency, productivity and impact in the foundation world.
