Upping the ante: Why I’m doubling down on the teen years

Posted on June 1, 2011

In an op-ed in the JTA Lynn Schusterman addresses the long term impact and importance of teen programs. She highlights a recent study that illustrates the impact of BBYO and references other studies by Moving Traditions and the Foundation for Jewish Camp that focus on programs that engage and empower Jewish youth, foster participants Jewish identities and encourage them to continue their involvement in the organized Jewish community. I agree with her and invite her, the foundation staff and their colleagues to see Areyvut’s programs in action. We provide participants Jewish “wow” moments that last a lifetime, ignite a lifelong commitment to helping others within a Jewish context and demonstrate that Judaism is practical, relevant and exciting.
