Areyvut, Shwekey Back to the Beacon & Mitzvah Clowns

Posted on December 14, 2010

This Sunday, December 19th at 7:30 PM the United Tzedakah Group spearheaded by Yudi Zuller presents Shwekey Back to the Beacon at the new Beacon Theatre on Broadway and 74th Street. The concert will feature Yaakov Shwekey and special guests including Yitzchak Meir Helfgot, Baruch Levine, the Shira Chadasha Boys Choir from Israel (which features Matt Bornstein’s boys), the Maccabeats, world renown child prodigy pianist Ethan Bortnick and a 50 piece symphonic orchestra conducted by Yochi Briskman. This is an impressive line-up and it promises to be an incredible evening.

Proceeds from the concert will support the United Tzedakah Group which consists of:

  • Areyvut which enables Jewish youth to infuse their lives with the core Jewish values of chesed (kindness), tzedakah (charity) and tikkun
olam (social action) so that they become thoughtful, giving members of the Jewish community of tomorrow.
  • The Israel Solidarity Fund of America (ISFA) which has done a great deal for Israeli victims of terror and is currently working to help Gilad Shalit and his family. ISFA is the lead agency in the concert and is responsible for putting it all together. Yudi and his team should be commended for all their work and for serving as models of Jewish unity and inviting other agencies to participate in this special event.
  • The Rosenbaum Yeshiva of North Jersey, a prominent Jewish day school in Bergen County with close to 1000 students.
  • The Special Children’s Center which was founded by Jenine Shwekey and is dedicated to helping special-needs children realize their full potential while alleviating the unremitting pressures and demands that families living with special-needs children face daily.

At the concert the Areyvut Mitzvah Clowns will be recognized and honored for their service to the community. I am pleased that Leora Zomick will be accepting the award on behalf of all 120 Areyvut Mitzvah Clowns. I invite you to put an ad in the playbill to acknowledge, honor, recognize and thank the 120 Areyvut Mitzvah Clowns who visit seniors and those in need of a friendly visit every month in Bergen County, Brooklyn and Westchester.

I encourage you to get your tickets today while they are still available. If you plan to go do not wait until later in the week because tickets are going quickly and all 2900 tickets will sell out in advance.

I want to publically thank and recognize Yudi Zuller of the Israel Solidarity Fund of America for all his work on the concert and his ongoing efforts on behalf of Gilad Shalit and the people of Israel. It is a pleasure and honor to be associated with him and this concert.

You can hear an interview with Yudi Zuller and Yaakov Shwekey from JM in the AM this morning from 8:00-9:00 AM that details the concert.

I look forward to seeing you on Sunday and please let me know if you have any questions.
