In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, many people want to find out what they can do to help.  Below we have listed a comprehensive list of ways in which you can volunteer and donate.  Additionally, we have also compiled a list of ways in which you can teach your children or students about hurricanes, how to respond and more.

Met Council - Volunteer/Distribute Information
Far Rockaway, Staten Island, Lower East Side
Volunteers are needed to help distribute flyers about information on emergency assistance available to victims of Hurricane Sandy.  Volunteers will pick up flyers from the Met Council offices and distribute the information to convenience stores, community centers, housing sites and individuals in the street in targeted areas.  This opportunity will require lots of walking and possible travel by mass transit.  To register, send an email to metcouncilvolunteer@gmail.com with "benefit" in the subject line.
