Shira Kitay
Shira Kitay is a 7th grade student at the Martin J. Gottlieb Day School in Jacksonville, FL.  For her Bat Mitzvah project this year she decided to donate band-aids to the Wolfson Children's Hospital in Jacksonville, FL and Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem, Israel.  These band-aids will have designs on them that give the children who are hospitalized hope, or at least a smile.  To find the design Shira is holding a contest.  Click here for official contest rules and mission statement.  Shira has spent a number of hours preparing for this project and has used a portion of the money she received for her Bat Mitzvah to help put the program into action.  Additionally, she has created a Tikkun Olam project board that she uses when she introduces her project to children.  Ultimately, Shira will be one of the judges in determining which band-aid design is selected.  She will work with the company that will produce them.  During July and August Shira will deliver the finished products to children and doctors.
