David Broide
David Broide is a 13 year old student from Hollywood, FL. He is an 8th grader at The Samuel Scheck Hillel Community Day School. For his mitzvah project, which he started on June 29, 2009, David collected pennies to remember and honor each child who perished during the Holocaust. It is David's hope to collect 1.5 million pennies. The collected pennies are being displayed at the Holocaust Documentation and Education Center (HDEC). On Yom Hashoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day), April 11, 2010, David plans on donating the pennies he has collected to help build the first South Florida Holocaust Museum. This project was very personal for him because his grandfather was a Holocaust survivor. It is by facilitating this project that he is honoring and remembering his grandfather who passed away in 2008. As of February 2010, David had collected 600,000 pennies. For more information about David's project or to donate your pennies, please visit his website: www.neverforgetneveragain.org. Feel free to contact David by email or phone at neverforgetneveragainpennies@gmail.com or (786) 486-7614. In addition to facilitating this great mitzvah project, David also received honorable mention in Areyvut's 2010 Bnai Mitzvah Video Essay Contest. Click here to view his winning essay.
