Orr Shalom

December 2009

Organization:
 American Friends of Orr Shalom

Mission:
Orr Shalom develops and operates a range of educational and therapeuticc responses, programs and services for children and youth at risk and their biological parents, from all sectors of Israeli society. Orr Shalom assists them to overcome their emotional, academic and social distress and grow, develop and integrate as citizens in mainstream society.

Organization Description:
Orr Shalom is the largest provider of therapeutic foster and group home care for Israel's most vulnerable children.  Today, more than 1,300 children are given a fresh start at life in one of Orr Shalom's 550 loving foster homes. We want these children to have all of the same opportunities that children who grow up in loving homes have - extra curricular activities and lessons, new clothes, a Bar or Bat Mitzvah.  American Friends of Orr Shalom raises much needed funds in the United States and send the money to Israel where it goes directly to support the programs.

Fun Fact:
Orr Shalom first opened its doors in 1980 with Israel's first therapeutic family group home and will be celebrating its 30th Anniversary during 2010.

How Can I Help?

You can help Orr Shalom and the children they serve by providing monetary support.  This will enable the staff to give the children educational intervention, therapy and warm clothes for the winter, and also help make the milestones (bar mitzvahs, bat mitzvahs, birthdays, etc.) in these childrens' lives that much more special.  Donate today.
