KosherTroops

October 2011

Organization:
 KosherTroops

Mission:
For the past few years we have been involved in sending kosher food and holiday gift baskets to many soldiers and service members stationed abroad.  What began as a small campaign is now one that reaches several hundred troops around the globe.  We found that there is a strong desire for Americans to show their appreciation and gratitude to those serving our country and protecting our freedom as well as a desire for our troops to be connected to the traditions they celebrate back home.

The overwhelming positive response we have received from both the donors and the service members has led to the creation of koshertroops.com.  KosherTroops is not a 501(c)3 not for profit organization where people can donate money, products, food and write letters that will be sent directly to the troops and service members.  The purpose of our website is to reach as many people as we can so that we can continue to support the brave men and women in the Armed Forces.  A hamantash on Purim, matzah & gefilte fish on Passover, challah and honey cake on Rosh Hashana are simple reminders from home that will brighten their day and let them know how much we care and that we are thinking of them.  Please take a look at our website, browse the photos and letters and see how some schools and companies have gotten involved in helping the troops.  We look forward to hearing from you and welcome your suggestions and ideas.

Organization Description:
A 501(c)3 not for profit organization that sends kosher care packages to the Deployed Jewish American Troops.

Fun Fact: The service members/troops contact us via email and send us pictures of themselves from wherever they are.  Kids can send letters and pictures to the troops.  Interesting photos are on our website.

How Can I Help?
KosherTroops services an average of 400 troops throughout the year.  Individuals can volunteer to help pack on a weekly basis and/or on our big projects right before the holidays.  They can donate money to help with shipping expenses and the purchase of many items that the troops request.
