Fun Fact: JFS was founded in 1952. Initially known as the Jewish Welfare Council of Bergen County, it was established by local lenders to address the human and communal needs of families and individuals within the Jewish community. During the past 58 years, the role of JFS has expanded to meet changing needs. It now reaches out to the Jewish community and well beyond with a wide array of human service programs.
