Jewish Communal Fund

August 2010

Organization:
 Jewish Communal Fund

Mission:
The Jewish Communal Fund (JCF) facilitates and promotes charitable giving through donor-advised funds.  Our donors recommend grants to sectarian and nonsectarian organizations, including those that respond to needs in health, education, social services, the environment, religion and the arts.

We enable individuals and families to achieve their philanthropic goals simply and efficiently, with flexibility and maximum choice.  In the Jewish tradition of tikkun olam - repairing the world - together we can make a profound difference.

Organization Description:
JCF is a public charity that manages over 2,600 charitable funds for individuals, couples and families from the tri-state area and throughout the country.  In addition to a regular donor-advised fund, we offer Children's Giving Funds that can be established with an initial contribution of $1,800.  Often family and friends make small contributions, and the fund is established when it reaches the $2,800 goal.  A young person may recommend grants of $36 or more to any IRS-approved charity, and this can be done online.  There are no receipts to save and no needs to track your giving.  JCF provides all this information (in paper statements or on your private web account) and makes the grants for you.  It's a very efficient way to give, and helps you plan your charitable giving over an extended period of time.  JCF also provides a tzedakah resource guide and family educational workshops.

Fun Fact: It takes less than 1 minutes to make a grant to your favorite charity, and you can do it from your BlackBerry or iPhone.

How Can I Help?
Start young people on the path to incorporating tzedakah into their lives by creating a JCF Children's Giving Fund to celebrate a Bar or Bat Mitzvah or other simcha, or establish a family tzedakah fund with JCF.
