Hazon Yeshaya Humanitarian Network

November 2011

Organization:
 Hazon Yeshaya Humanitarian Network

Mission:
Hazon Yeshaya is dedicated to fighting poverty in Israel and helping to improve the quality of life of Israel's poorest citizens, 365 days a year.

Organization Description:
The Hazon Yeshaya Humanitarian Network is Israel's leading humanitarian organization helping the poor and needy.  The flagship program is a network of central kitchens serving more than 400,000 hot meals to those who need it most every month at 60 locations.  Other programs include Bar/Bat-Mitzvah celebrations for orphans and those from broken homes, after-school enrichment programs saving poor kids from the streets, free vocational training for the unemployed including single parents, and free dental clinics for people in pain who can't afford dental care.

Fun Fact: If you visit the Western Wall before or after your Bar or Bat Mitzvah, you can request a personalized certificate marking the date of your celebration at the office of the Western Wall Heritage Foundation: http://barmitzva.thekotel.org/?lang=en

How Can I Help?
We invite visitors to Israel to volunteer in our kitchens in Jerusalem, Ashkelon and Rishon LeTzion to prepare meals for the poor - this is a rewarding experience for young and old.  We invite Bnei Mitzvah to twin their celebration with that of children from disadvantaged homes, and to raise funds to buy them gifts.  We encourage schools and communities to adopt Hazon Yeshaya as their charity of choice, because we keep our overhead costs down to below 3%, so that 97 cents of ever $1 goes directly to Israel's poorest citizens.
