Yeshivat Noam

Rabbi Chaim Hagler, principal of Yeshivat Noam in Bergen County, NJ, has turned to Areyvut for assistance in fostering a culture of kindness among his staff and students. On August 30th, Areyvut staff met with 75 Yeshivat Noam faculty members as part of a full day of staff development devoted to incorporating service learning and tikkun olam into the curriculum. Daniel Rothner, Areyvut founder and director, presented a slide show on the centrality of chesed, tzedakah, and tikkun olam in Judaism and the importance of incorporating these concepts into curriculum. He recommended using Service Learning as a curricular model to plan social action projects that are directly linked to learning goals and provided resources to help put this model to action in Yeshivat Noam classrooms.
