SAR Bnai Mitzvah Fair

Morrie Libman (Shaare Tzedek) speaking with Akiva Aranoff
Sixth grade students at SAR Academy in Riverdale, NY are encouraged to participate in social action projects to add meaning to their bnai mitzvah celebrations. To assist them in this process, Areyvut organized and ran a Bnai Mitzvah Fair at SAR Academy on September 27th. At the fair, students had the special opportunity to meet representatives from a variety of local social action projects and learned information about over a dozen project ideas.

Organizations who participated in the fair include: American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC), Bears from Bergenfield, Bronx Jewish Community Council, J-ADD Residential Homes & Respite Services, Metropolitan Council on Jewish Poverty, The North American Conference on Ethiopian Jewry (NACOEJ), Old Croton Aqueduct State Historic Park, Rockefeller State Park Preserve, Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem, Summit Institute and Table to Table. Students were excited about the organizations that they encountered and left with added enthusiasm to begin their projects.
