CONFERENCES & PRESENTATIONS 2006-2007

Throughout the school year, Areyvut reaches out across the country to Jewish educators and lay leaders by participating in a number of presentations and conferences. These events offer Areyvut an ideal opportunity to share its mission, ideas and programs with everyone in the Jewish community.

On May 1-3, Areyvut attended the Jewish Teen Funders Network Conference in Baltimore. At the conference, Areyvut staff learned about the different ways to develop and implement a successful teen philanthropy program. In the Winter of 2007, Areyvut, in partnership with the JCC on the Palisades, plans on piloting a teen philanthropy program within the Bergen County community. For more information about the program, please call us at (201) 244-6702.

Tuesday, February 20, Areyvut gave an informational presentation at the Community Foundation for Jewish Education of Metropolitan Chicago. Local Jewish Educators came to the presentation to hear about how Areyvut can work with them to ignite a lifelong commitment to chesed, tzedakah and tikkun olam within their students. Areyvut looks forward to working with each congregation to develop Bnai Mitzvah programming and work towards making the world a better place.

Sunday, February 18, Areyvut gave a presentation at Midwest CAJE. Educators came to hears about understanding the centrality of Chesed and Tikkun Olam within Judaism and in Jewish education, identifying ways to incorporate Chesed and Tikkun Olam into a curriculum and classroom, service learning, finding helpful resources and learning practical ways of implementing Chesed, Tikkun Olam and service learning projects into a curriculum. The sessions were a huge success and all educators left with a better understanding of why it is so important to make chesed a central part of the learning experience.

On January 21 and 22, Areyvut hosted an exhibitor’s booth at the JEXNET (formerly NAA) annual conference in Atlanta Georgia. Educators from all across North America who attended the conference got a chance to learn about what Areyvut has to offer and how we can work with each of them individually.

On November 7th, for the second year in a row, Areyvut led two sessions at the New Jersey Association of Jewish Day Schools Conference at the Joseph Kushner Hebrew Academy in Livingston, NJ. The first session was entitled “A Kindness a Day: 365 Ways to Make the World a Better Place,” while the second session was entitled “Putting the Mitzvah Back in Bar/Bat Mitzvah.” Both sessions were a huge success and gave all educators in the room enough educational resources and materials to help make the world a better place.

On November 7, Member of Areyvut’s Board of Trustees, Fred Claar spoke to at the BJE of Greater NY about Areyvut’s “A Kindness a Day” calendar. Hebrew School principals and teachers received complimentary calendars as well as learned about how the calendar can be used as a wonderful educational tool.

On November 1st, Areyvut gave an informational presentation at the Agency of Jewish Education in San Diego, California. Congregational educators and principals from all across the county came to the presentation for breakfast and to hear about what Areyvut has to offer them. Partnerships were created and everyone had a delicious time!
