Throughout the year, Areyvut reaches out to Jewish educators and community lay leaders across the country by participating in a number of presentations and conferences. These events offer Areyvut an ideal opportunity to share its mission, ideas and programs with Jewish educators and communal leaders.
On November 8th, Areyvut gave a session entitled “A Kindness a Day: 365 Ways to Make the World a Better Place” at the New Jersey Association of Jewish Day Schools Conference at the Joseph Kushner Hebrew Academy in Livingston, NJ. The session built on the conference theme “Teaching for Critical Thinking” and provided participants an approach to “think out of the box” and make chesed an integral part of their classroom on a regular basis.
On December 7th, for the fourth straight year, Areyvut gave a presentation at the Board of Jewish Education of Greater New York’s Israel Berman In-Service Day, which took place at HAFTR Elementary School in Cedarhurst, NY. Over 20 educators attended the session entitled “A Kindness a Day: 365 Ways to Make the World a Better Place” and walked out of the session with ideas and resources to implement immediately to create an environment of kindness, social justice and chesed while profoundly influencing the lives of your students.
On December 11th, Areyvut served as the guest speaker for the Men’s Club at Beth Hillel Congregation Bnai Emunah in Wilmette, IL as part of their Mitzvah Day. The program was attended by over 100 congregants in advance of their participation in Mitzvah Day and focused on the fact that “every day is Mitzvah Day.” Areyvut also had an opportunity to speak with the 3rd-7th graders at the synagogue where the message dealt with how every day objects like tooth paste, stuffed animals, blankets and a baseball bat can be used to impact the lives of others.
Areyvut is scheduled to participate in the Partnership for Excellence in Jewish Education’s (PEJE) Donor & Leadership Assembly in Boston, MA in March and the first ever Jewish Youth Funders Conference in conjunction with the Jewish Funders Network Conference in Denver, CO in April. Areyvut’s presence at these important conferences will enable its staff to meet informally with Jewish lay leaders, educators and students and participate in a number of significant discussions on education, social action, philanthropy and the Jewish community.
